The South of England Horse Trials are held at the showground in Ardingly, West Sussex and is one of my local horse Trials. A fifteen minute drive and I have arrived alongside the cross country course. First item on the agenda is a Latte from Jona, The Coffee Man, who most of us know. The sun was shining, but there is always a nip in the air at Ardingly, when the wind blows.

Stephanie Dewitt, NagMag’s journalist, is also a BS Panel Judge and was already in situ in the judges box, alongside the Showjumping arena.

I was unable to attend on Saturday, but there was plenty of action on Sunday in the Novice, Intermediate and Advanced Intermediate sections.

Isabell Cook had three runs in Section H - Open Novice Under 18 and achieved a respectable 2nd, 3rd and 6th.

The Horse Trials are organised by Jenny Nolan and Tim Nolan, Pippa Funnell’s Mother and Brother respectively. So it was lovely to see Pippa win the Advanced Intermediate on MAJAS HOPE.

The going was good, the weather was kind to us and everything ran smoothly. Here’s to the next visit.
