I was excited for my first day of eventing in 2021 as I arrived at Heath Farm for Munstead Horse Trials (1). Several layers of clothing, plus snood were required, as there was a bit of a nip in the air. The showjumping arena had been moved closer to the cross country course and the course route was different to last year.

There was a buzz of excitement coming from everyone, who were all thinking “we’re back.” Alex Colborn on BILLY ARUNDEL was the trail blazer and finished a very respectable 2nd place in Section A BE90.

The sun came out at lunchtime, the layers came off and the rest of the competition ran like clockwork.
